| 07.03.07 | 30 Minutes | I walked a lot on my recent vacation to New England. Back at work today, I walked around while catching up via cell with a friend. But this is really boring, writing down every time I take a walk. So I'm just going to walk and not bother with this anymore. Ta! |
| 05.25.07 | 30 Minutes | I have a silly fear of unleashed dogs, even when there are none about, I expect one to appear at any moment. |
| 05.24.07 | 40 Minutes | Last night we walked through our neighborhood to the opening game of the local baseball team. This is a case in which I can say we really did save some carbon, because we had a destination in mind - this wasn't just a walk for its own sake. It was so nice not to have to deal with the season-opener traffic, and just breeze in and out, and we enjoyed the time spent together. |
| 05.23.07 | 20 Minutes | I seem to have gotten over the penguin walk after Sunday's overexertion, but we've gone into Ozone Alert Days here in Coal Plant Country, and I was only able to walk outside for a while before I started to feel woozy. It's not healthy to exercise during ozone and particulate episodes, because you breathe all that crap deeper into your lungs. :-( |
| 05.22.07 | 180 Minutes | The hubby and I went hiking on the backcountry trail at a nearby park on Sunday. I am still walking like a penguin from the muscle strain on my calves. Also took what I'd hoped would be a quiet walk by the river on Saturday but what I got was a car show, loud country music, and construction zones. Still, worked up a good sweat in the heat and got some people-watching in. |
| 05.17.07 | 135 Minutes | This is actually Mon-Tue-Wed's total. In that time I got upset by a pandhandler, chastised two small girls for terrorizing geese, and got ogled by creepy guys who hang out in the park in their cars. But I still am enjoying the movement, fresh air, water and wildlife. |
| 05.12.07 | 60 Minutes | After work we picked up Chinese and ate at the park under a picnic shelter and light rain. After dinner, my husband fished and I walked around the lake four times. Saw the kingfisher again, and when the sun started to set in the sky it formed beams - "God light" - on one side of the lake that silhouetted the fountain in a breathtaking way. A bunch of geese on a hillside lined up like sentinels to watch it with me. It was beautiful. I walked at the park every day this past week, and I'm really enjoying it. |
| 05.11.07 | 60 Minutes | This was actually yesterday - I walked both on my lunch break and after work. I've walked around the lake at a local park every day this week, and yesterday was grey and it looked like it was going to storm. I noticed that as it got darker, all the ducks and geese got out of the lake. Today looks stormy, and out my office window I notice the same - the ducks and geese are huddled on land. |
| 05.09.07 | 45 Minutes | I thought I only had it in me to go once around the lake after work today, but I started to get into a zone, feeling the muscles in my legs work as I walked up hill, and didn't want to stop. I ended up going around three times. |
| 05.08.07 | 30 Minutes | This is actually making no impact on my carbon input, as it is "recreational" walking. Today it was almost too hot to walk around in work wear. I hope we get a little spring weather before the full-on sticky summer hits. |
| 05.07.07 | 30 Minutes | I escaped my office to walk around campus. It felt good to move - even though I had to choke on some truck fumes a time or two. Some vehicle-bound folks waved at me. |
