Interests: His: flying and building experimental planes. Her: golf and gardening. Turning to experimental gardening was just a matter of time. Inspiration: sunsets, Bud Light, fresh picked corn, books, trick roping, low golf scores, visits from wayward children and MOST of all, an unearthed whiskey still from the Prohabition era that we found on our property accidentally. Why would a 72 year old semi-retired physician (the guy) and his 69 year old friend (the girl) want to try something as difficult as producing ethanol from their farm in Middle Georgia? There are many spirits at work here in the answer to this question. There is the patriotic spirit, the anti-aging spirit, the education spirit, and the list goes on and on. The large over riding spirit in all of this is the possibility that the product that comes from distilling corn or other natural raw materials could be the unifying force that makes all Americans, both left and right, come together in a common effort for independence. The hope that comes from a single seed that is planted in the ground and the need to find a way to help our country with its oil problem were the factors that made these older people jump into the fermenting vat and never look back. The saga began around the first of May, 2006. |
