The Green Room: Paul McCartney's SUV... Hybrid!
Posted by Joshua W. Jackson on January 19, 2007 - 3:47am.

Paul McCartney has teamed up with automobile industry giant LEXUS to create a new Signature SUV hybrid. The new car (which gets 30 mpg), features rear seat DVD players, a state-of-the-art sound system, and, yes, Paul McCartney's autograph on the car's exterior. The new vehicle has been very well received and sources say LEXUS shareholders are thrilled the company didn't give in to McCartney's request that it be called "The Walrus."

Celebrated environmentalist Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has spoken out once more against global warming skeptics and those who consider the warm weather in the northeast a blessing, emphasizing the disasterous results the warmth has had on birds and other wildlife. Kennedy singled out Michael Crichton, Glen Beck, and Rush Limbaugh as the most obnoxious deniers of climate change. Rumors suggest that the doubting trio haven't yet responded to Kennedy's criticism because they're enjoying a balmy January sunbathing trip somewhere in the Yukon Territory.

The romance between starlet Mandy Moore and Nicole Ricci's former fiance DJ AM is apparently heating up. The pair was spotted in Beverly Hills last week, where they shared a snug embrace before departing in separate Toyota Priuses. While many applaud the young lovebirds' choice of automobile, finicky environmentalists everywhere point out that if they really gave a damn, they would have carpooled.

World-renown theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking stated recently that if we don't acknowledge the threat of climate change, the destruction of the entire planet could come much sooner than expected. Global warming skeptics acknowledged that while, sure, Mr. Hawking may be the smartest person on the planet, Hummers are, like, cool.

Ultra-hip housing company Livinghomes opened the doors of the first ever Platinum LEED certified house this week in Los Angeles. Among the crowd of architecture enthusiasts and tech-obsessed bloggers gathered at the eco-friendly ribbon cutting ceremony was actress Tiffani Thiessen, who no doubt had to rely on the skills she learned fending off Screech at Bayside High in order to get through the night.

I, for one, welcome our Lexus SUV-driving overlords

It's tough to start a business which caters to broke hippies.

Hopefully, the Greenerati will make green tech fashionable, and create a market for this stuff to become mass produced.  Then the price will come down for the rest of us.

And that's when I get my long-awaited Segway.

I can't believe people still want those anymore...there are so many global cooling options.

On another note aren't all those broke hippies from the 60's now the rich boomers with all the extra money to spend on trying to save the world?

Uh, if someone wants to explain to me how a 30-mpg petro-burning SUV is "green," I'm all ears.

Interests: Horseback riding, watching the silence of the snow, obviously anything creative, cooking
Inspiration: Like most of you, when I heard of recycling to save the earth, I naturally assumed I needed to separate my plastics, newspapers and glass. I was helping. That was all I needed to do. Then one day, I was searching around for something fun, some art, and I came across this abstract piece. It was gorgeous - it looked like a naturally formed wave of icy white water bursting into the air. When I looked closer at it, I saw that it was made from recycled plastic caps. I was in shock. What kind of imagination and talent does that take to look at a plastic cap and see more to it then what it actually is? How can someone be so ingenious that they can take something that we normally throw away and create such a piece of beauty with it? This is the thought process that I could not stop pondering and it took over my mind, body and soul and soon enough became my muse. I began Earth's Journey for this reason. I wanted to show the world that there was more to saving the earth than just recycling. There is beauty in things we can't even imagine, and so many ways to help our planet flourish. There are products out there that we all could use to completely decorate, furnish and run a home... all environmentally safe. You can buy organic bedding, non-toxic cleaning detergents, solar power, or make a change in a small way by using energy-efficient light bulbs. But the best part of recycling and being eco-friendly is the beauty that you'll find here, with all of our different artisans. As you can see I'm very passionate about this type of artistic creativity, and I hope you will be too. I invite you to sit back, relax and ... Be Inspired by Green!
