The Green Room: Beyonce, Back for More?
Posted by Joshua W. Jackson on October 27, 2006 - 4:59am.

Beyonce, ever the enemy of animals and animals rights groups, copped to taping a baby alligator's mouth shut not long ago. This past week, the diva paid a visit to the zoo in Sydney, Australia, causing dozens of species of endangered animals to release high-pitched squeals and hide under the nearest rock. While Beyonce's visit appears to have been for recreational purposes, many speculate that she was researching the steps involved in gluing a koala bear to a tree, tying a kangaroo's paws together, or forcing a dingo into back-up singer status.

Earlier this week rock fans gathered in Los Angeles at Rock-N-Roll Bingo, a benefit for the environmental non-profit group Treepeople. Members of Fishbone and The Dead Kennedys called numbers during the game, leaving environmental activist Bobby Kennedy, Jr. to drown in a pool of mixed emotions.

Trouble in Malibu! What began as a simple rumbling of discontent has grown into a full-scale celebrity-styled roar. Pierce Brosnan, Halle Berry, Cindy Crawford, Dick Van Dyke, Tea Leoni, Ted Danson, Jane Seymour, and Darryl Hannah gathered beachside to surf, swim, and enjoy a pancake brunch—all as a means of protesting a new natural gas facility planned for fourteen miles off Malibu's coast. The Governator, not present at the event, has the power to stop the development by lifting a pen to a piece of paper. It remains unclear whether or not Arnold is strong enough to do it.

The William Morris Agency, which represents Scarlett Johansson and scores of other stars, announced this week that they'll be moving into a brand new eco-friendly green building in Beverly Hills in the next few years. Millions of Americans reacted with joy, but many were extremely distressed at the news—according to some traditional Western beliefs, Hollywood agents voluntarily doing the right thing is an irrefutable sign of the apocalypse.

Interests: Horseback riding, watching the silence of the snow, obviously anything creative, cooking
Inspiration: Like most of you, when I heard of recycling to save the earth, I naturally assumed I needed to separate my plastics, newspapers and glass. I was helping. That was all I needed to do. Then one day, I was searching around for something fun, some art, and I came across this abstract piece. It was gorgeous - it looked like a naturally formed wave of icy white water bursting into the air. When I looked closer at it, I saw that it was made from recycled plastic caps. I was in shock. What kind of imagination and talent does that take to look at a plastic cap and see more to it then what it actually is? How can someone be so ingenious that they can take something that we normally throw away and create such a piece of beauty with it? This is the thought process that I could not stop pondering and it took over my mind, body and soul and soon enough became my muse. I began Earth's Journey for this reason. I wanted to show the world that there was more to saving the earth than just recycling. There is beauty in things we can't even imagine, and so many ways to help our planet flourish. There are products out there that we all could use to completely decorate, furnish and run a home... all environmentally safe. You can buy organic bedding, non-toxic cleaning detergents, solar power, or make a change in a small way by using energy-efficient light bulbs. But the best part of recycling and being eco-friendly is the beauty that you'll find here, with all of our different artisans. As you can see I'm very passionate about this type of artistic creativity, and I hope you will be too. I invite you to sit back, relax and ... Be Inspired by Green!
