The Green Room: Newman's New Restaurant
Posted by Joshua W. Jackson on July 7, 2006 - 5:00am.

Sometimes organic's a pretty cool hand. Eco-food hero Paul Newman is teaming up with LIME's own Michel Nischan to open a brand new restaurant featuring organic and locally grown food. The restaurant is called the Dressing Room, despite numerous requests that it be named "Butch and the LIME Kid's" or "The Sting (of Hunger)." [Insert your own organic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof joke here—we're not touching it.]

Having a hard time keeping up with healthy eating trends? You're not alone. There's the macrobiotic diet, the Miami Beach diet, the Raw Food diet, the Atkin's diet, and now the purple diet. No joke. Mariah Carey is only eating purple foods. Apparently, the diva feels that avoiding foods of all other colors is the only surefire way to prevent wrinkles. Doctors, on the other hand, emphasis that an all-purple diet may cause insanity.

Superman does Rope Yoga. That's right. Rope Yoga. Apparently the physical demands of Bikram, Kundalini, Ashtanga, and Bhakti just aren't rigorous enough for the man of steel. New superstar Brendan Routh recently appeared in an infomercial selling a yoga exercise machine. It's yet to be determined whether Routh is actually a devoted yogi or he's just nervous about the future of his career after he couldn't even get the part of wax version of himself.

"If chance will have me king"...I'll shun my limo for a bicycle? Liev Schreiber, Central Park's Macbeth, reportedly rides a bike to and from the park to play the evil Scottish king. Good for him! Maybe old Macbeth isn't such a bad guy... After all, Schreiber's version is obviously aware of the planetary needs of tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.

Rapper Lil' Kim was recently released from prison, and when asked about her future plans she said she intends to meditate, revealing a slightly LIME side. Of course, many are quick to point out that Lil' Kim no longer has a "slightly" anything side. Lil' Kim did add, "I'll be eating French fries. I know I don't need to, but..." prompting fans to wonder if the star's name would soon become more ironic than intended.

Cat on a Hot Tin . . .

I think perhaps the unmentionable would have to do with Newman's character, Brick--the sexually confused jock.

Brick House or Brick Oven being the first two that come to mind. . . .

Interests: Horseback riding, watching the silence of the snow, obviously anything creative, cooking
Inspiration: Like most of you, when I heard of recycling to save the earth, I naturally assumed I needed to separate my plastics, newspapers and glass. I was helping. That was all I needed to do. Then one day, I was searching around for something fun, some art, and I came across this abstract piece. It was gorgeous - it looked like a naturally formed wave of icy white water bursting into the air. When I looked closer at it, I saw that it was made from recycled plastic caps. I was in shock. What kind of imagination and talent does that take to look at a plastic cap and see more to it then what it actually is? How can someone be so ingenious that they can take something that we normally throw away and create such a piece of beauty with it? This is the thought process that I could not stop pondering and it took over my mind, body and soul and soon enough became my muse. I began Earth's Journey for this reason. I wanted to show the world that there was more to saving the earth than just recycling. There is beauty in things we can't even imagine, and so many ways to help our planet flourish. There are products out there that we all could use to completely decorate, furnish and run a home... all environmentally safe. You can buy organic bedding, non-toxic cleaning detergents, solar power, or make a change in a small way by using energy-efficient light bulbs. But the best part of recycling and being eco-friendly is the beauty that you'll find here, with all of our different artisans. As you can see I'm very passionate about this type of artistic creativity, and I hope you will be too. I invite you to sit back, relax and ... Be Inspired by Green!
