Need another reason to cut back on meat besides personal health and environmentalism? We'll give you two: Pamela Anderson. The buxom model is fed up with the cruelty to animals and she plans to do something about it! Anderson, a strict vegetarian, is confronting the problem the way she's learned to confront most problems: by taking her clothes off. She intends to stand naked in Stella McCartney's shop window to raise awareness for PETA. Pam also recently wrote a letter to Kentucky governor Ernie Fletcher demanding that a statue of KFC's Colonel Sanders be taken down on the grounds that the Colonel is an emblem of cruelty to chickens. Anderson recieved a response declining the request. "Colonel Sanders remains a Kentucky icon," Governor Fletcher wrote, adding that Sanders is, in fact, Kentucky's only icon.
When Al Gore told Jay Leno that he was in a big feud with Lindsay Lohan, most of us assumed he was joking, especially when Leno asked him what the feud was about and he responded that Lohan "knows what she did." A new preview of a movie called An Inconvenient Proposal, though, suggest otherwise. The phony film asserts that we're facing a previously unimagined crisis. Lohan, it seems, has teamed up with global warming. Who knew? On the other hand, we did always wonder if fossil fuel emissions had anything to do with the freakiness of that Friday.
It's not incredibly surprising that bling-obsessed Paris Hilton drives an SUV. But we didn't expect a video of Paris tooling around a parking lot to be interesting enough to grace a gossip site. In other news, Charlton Heston owns a rifle, Sam Elliot enjoys steak, and the Marlboro Man is known to smoke the occasional cigarette.
In San Francisco last night, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. appeared as the keynote speaker at the annual Baykeeper Gala. This year's celebration honored Erin Brokovich for her commitment to fighting for the environmental health of those in California's rural areas. Brokovich was made famous in the popular film based on her 1996 battle to protect small town Californians from the Pacific Gas & Electric Company. Rumors abound that a sequel is being discussed with the working title "Erin Brokovich: Still Getting Awards, Ten Years Later."
The stereotype of movie stars as pioneers of yoga, Pilates, and healthy foods may be fading. The New York Observer reports that Hollywood's leading men are getting fatter and fatter by the minute in order to look like mainstream America. Among the actors named in the story are Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, and Brad Pitt. Apparently the film industry hasn't heard that we're living a healthier, greener, more balanced lifestyle. When casting director Lisa Beach was asked why the idealized male image is getting tubbier, she said, "If you are trying to reach the biggest audience, then you're looking for the everyman." No wonder Iggy Pop has only ever been able to land bit parts.

Inspiration: Like most of you, when I heard of recycling to save the earth, I naturally assumed I needed to separate my plastics, newspapers and glass. I was helping. That was all I needed to do. Then one day, I was searching around for something fun, some art, and I came across this abstract piece. It was gorgeous - it looked like a naturally formed wave of icy white water bursting into the air. When I looked closer at it, I saw that it was made from recycled plastic caps. I was in shock. What kind of imagination and talent does that take to look at a plastic cap and see more to it then what it actually is? How can someone be so ingenious that they can take something that we normally throw away and create such a piece of beauty with it? This is the thought process that I could not stop pondering and it took over my mind, body and soul and soon enough became my muse.
I began Earth's Journey for this reason. I wanted to show the world that there was more to saving the earth than just recycling. There is beauty in things we can't even imagine, and so many ways to help our planet flourish. There are products out there that we all could use to completely decorate, furnish and run a home... all environmentally safe. You can buy organic bedding, non-toxic cleaning detergents, solar power, or make a change in a small way by using energy-efficient light bulbs. But the best part of recycling and being eco-friendly is the beauty that you'll find here, with all of our different artisans. As you can see I'm very passionate about this type of artistic creativity, and I hope you will be too.
I invite you to sit back, relax and ... Be Inspired by Green!
I am officially in love with the GREEN ROOM, can I get your number :)
I have never thought of Mr. Pop's role in Snow Day as a bit part. Come on Josh...
Here's a picture of Kentucky's statue of Colonel Sanders:

It's very moving. I didn't know they spoke much Japanese in Kentucky, though. Go figure.
although i've never set foot inside a KFC, i can't say that it has anything to do with my feelings regarding the Colonel- in fact, as a figurehead i find him to be quite effective. on the other hand, burger king's new or not so new emblem 'the burger king' is incredibly creepy.
ANIMAL LOVERS: If you love animals and want to help them, find a local shelter and donate your time and dog food, cat food, cages, etc.
