The marketing mavens win as I ignorantly feed my child into the gaping jaws of a cute little Jack Russell terrier.

I So Want A Dog's Life

Aromatherapy massages. Filet mignon dinners. Spa pedicures.

Canine Balancing Act

Canine Balancing ActPosted by Kimberly Delaney on July 24, 2006 - 4:58am.

It's no secret that dogs contribute positively to people's health and well being. Studies show that dog owners have lower stress levels, blood pressure and cholesterol. They also have lower incidents of depression, less trips to the hospital and pharmacy, better psychological health and a higher rate of survival after heart attacks. So should you get a dog?

Man-Made Friends

Man-Made FriendsPosted by Hillary Rosner on May 11, 2006 - 11:56am.

We here at LIME's "Planet" section are big dog lovers (meaning we have big love for all dogs, not that we love big dogs - I mean, we do love big dogs but also small ones), so we couldn't resist calling attention to a great story on the BBC's web site. It's about the history and evolution of dogs, as told through an exhibition called "Dogs: Man-Made Friends," on view at a branch of the UK's Natural HIstory Museum.

Canine Aromatherapy

Canine AromatherapyPosted by Marisa Belger on March 13, 2006 - 3:45pm.

Until recently I was nothing more than a callous cat lover, indifferent to the ways of the pooch.

Then I moved next to Max. A ten-year old blonde golden retriever, Max is effectively my neighbor's dog, but when I take him on walks around the neighborhood I often pretend he's mine. As passersby stop to "ooh" and "ahh" over him, I smile that smug smile of ownership and make sly comments like "You're such a flirt, Max." I'm attributing my arrested appreciation for dogs to my inability to accept the untraditional treatments currently available for canines. I know there are dogs currently battling depression with Prozac and other dogs on a regimen of alternative therapies, but I've had a tough time accepting it as reality.
