The Green Room: Rosie Perez Speaks Out!

Trouble in Brooklyn! [1] This week about 4,000 people showed up in Prospect Park to protest unsound real estate development in a peaceful neighborhood. The project, planned by Forest City Ratner, includes the construction of a stadium for the (formerly) New Jersey Nets. Protestors included locals like Rosie Perez, Steve Buscemi, and musician Dan Zanes. Michelle Williams, who lives nearby the site, previously spoke out against the development, saying "it will increase traffic, pollution, and asthma." Many have suggested that the unsettling development be pushed out to Coney Island, which may sound attractive to Ratner and company. After all, protests from working class, non-famous people tend to get much less media attention.

Brad Pitt, working with Global Green, recently visited America's favorite devastated city [2], where he's acting as head juror of the "Sustainable Design Competition of New Orleans." While we applaud Brad's involvement with such a noble undertaking, many are quick to ask what exactly qualifies him to be head juror, leading some to hypothesize that the jury selection committee included a consortium of lonely teenage girls [3].

While some mainstream gossip columns may confuse Matthew McConaughey's beach activities for "drunken jazzercise [4]," we at the LIME would recognize [4] the Cobra Pose [5] no matter how intoxicated the practitioner. Local authorities are investigating claims that global warming [5] is actually being caused by McConaughey's abs.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes sent a mixed message to environmentalists this week, as reports surfaced that the pair received a grocery order [6] that included a large amount of organic [6] food... delivered in the least energy efficient way possible: on Cruise's private plane. Next, sources say Cruise intends to fly his home recycling to a treatment center in Abu Dhabi.

Most of us can agree that retirement is a time for golf [6], and self involvement, but Tom Brokaw feels differently. The former NBC anchor recently hosted [7] a documentary for Discovery called, Global Warming: What You Need To Know [8]. In the meantime, local authorities are investigating claims that global warming is actually being caused by Tom [9] Brokaw's [10] abs [11].
