i voted for coffee, but i would like to go back to the Ayurvedic Special and i've never tried Kombucha (i could use the probiotics) so i'm going to give it a try starting tomorrow! Thanks for the encouragement.

No sweat, zenbunny! We can all encourage each other. You don't have to quit cold turkey. I'm trying to phase out caffeine a couple of days a week... treating myself to coffee one or two times a week, having black tea on other days and going for the hot water with lemon on the final one or two days. Hot water with lemon is super cleansing/detoxifying, supports digestion and stimulates appetite, so it's a nice thing to have first thing in the morning. Kombucha is great too. If you're going to try it, check out LIME's do-it-yourself recipe.

Just FYI, an apple in the morning will give you more energy than a cup of coffee or tea.  :o)

of all the things i have put to the side...
by mamadot on March 30, 2008 - 12:39pm

i have put my cigaret addiction to the side. i have also put my addictions to sweets to the side (almost). as i get older, i find that more and more of the things i had put on the "lifes pleasures" list have steadily begun to fall off, mostly due to health issues.

BUT i feel that i will hold on to my love affair with coffee with white knuckled determination. EVERYONE is allowed one vice, within moderation.

folks without vices give me the willies. there just not human.

What's wrong with coffee?

I can't live without coffee-- I love everything about it. So i cling to the news reports touting its benefits!

I agree.  What is really so bad about coffee?  Too much of anything is a bad thing - even too much Yerba Matte might drive someone over the edge.  I guess what I am saying is that if someone enjoys a cup of coffee in the monring - for the ritual of it, for the taste, the pick me up, whatever - then why is that so bad? And sometimes I enjoy a cup in the afternoon, too.  It's not necessarily for the effects, but for the taste and because I just enjoy it.  So I say why stop drinking it just because it seems to be the "in" thing to do?
