Not what I had expected...
I shopped at this new/recently opened organic food store this weekend and it was not what I had expected after reading about the store on their website.

This store's Organic Deli is full of chopped salads, prepared meat and vegan dishes, dairy-free puddings and even has a hot food bar. While these were a welcome rarity to this area, there really were not many "Deli" meats as I was expecting. They had some pre-packaged in a cooler but only the Applegate sliced chicken.

On the shelves and in the baked goods sections I found that while specialty items were plentiful, the "basics" such as plain whole wheat bread and roll and muffins were not present. The store's selections seem to heavily favor those that need gluten-free and/or vegan diets and not people like me who prefer to eat wholesome organics without changing the recipes.

However I do commend them for a good section produce with the claim of "locally grown." For any of those calculating "food miles" this store is probably the best in our area aside from the seasonal Farmer's Market over on route 312.

In short, don't come here expecting to get your whole grocery list filled. The prices certainly reflect the uniqueness of this store for the area. For now I'll continue to travel to Mrs. Greens in Mahopac, Shoprite in Carmel (for their Organic section) and Trader Joes in Danbury thank-you-very-much.
