Leather doesn't meet my definition of renewable or sustainable. They claim "all the material comes from the US and is a bi-product [sic] of the beef or dairy industry."
I'd like to see that proven, since a huge majority of leather goods sold in the U.S. are imported (India and China) and made from animals slaughtered for their skins only.
One could also argue that when the company buys skins from factory farms and slaughterhouses, it actually contributes to the problem by providing an economic incentive for this cycle of unsustainable cruelty to continue.
