Green, the New Red, White & Blue?
Posted by Harley on June 29, 2007 - 2:51pm.
Now that July 4th is right around the corner, is anyone going to fly a green flag as well?  I heard that "green" is the new red, white and blue".  Do you think that is true?

Hm.

Well I've never really celebrated 4th of July, but now that I'm thinking about it maybe I should consider using this holiday to my advantage and organizing something nice, maybe an eco-fantastic get together, since we all get the day off that day.

I don't necessarily thing that green is the new red, white, and blue, because if that were the case, I would notice more interest of greener issues in today's politics... and that's not really the case. I mean yea there are a lot of green politicians like Al Gore that are out there trying their best, but ... it's a not a huge number, I feel.

I think that green should be the red, white and blue though!

raising the flag

Some people have mentioned this on t.v.  That with what is going on in and to the world, we need to make green our new national pastime.  It made me think...really think.  That the wars we are fighting will only increase if we don't take a firmer stand and make it a national platform.  We need to raise the flag of awareness, but I think I'll keep waving the good ol red, white and blue this July 4th.

It should be, but unfortunately it's not. I think that Al gore is a green politician, too bad he's doubting getting into presidency too much. I think that with gore on presidency we would be heading towards a greener future!

Do you think that he would keep to his agenda if he were president?  I wonder if he is better focusing on the green issue full time than being president?

Focusing on Green

I think that he might be better focusing on the green issue full time than being president.  If he was elected president there would be so many other issues that he would have to focus on that the green issue would not always be in the forefront - as it is now.  He has done so much in the last few years to raise awareness to the cause and generate interest in a healthier and more green lifestyle.  He has made so many people stop and think about the environment, their surroundings, and how the little things that can be done each day will add up to making our world a better place.

leaving your ego behind

Just take the Live Earth Concert.  He was behind it and got the world to enjoy great music for a day and focus on the bigger picture.  I think he is better off serving the green movement than being president.  I just don't k now if his ego could walk away.

Green, Green, Green

The whole point to this green thing is to educate. Whether it's a national pastime issue is not as important as what are we doing personally. I have invested in a green business selling environmentally safe products. I love them for myself and felt it was necessary to be a part of making them available to friends, family and co-workers. I am handing out flyers for laptoplunches when school starts. We can make a difference in our own community.

every generation

I think that people seem to like to be part of a movement and the green one is definitely worthwhile.  Every generation needs something to stand for and I think that this one just may be green.  Saving the earth is THE most important thing we can do, each of us as individuals with no special equipment needed.  I think that it is a great pastime and one where we don't have to sit on the couch and eat peanuts!!!
