I'm 26 and I've started a quest to 'get the big picture' for unbiased world news and information. It has been a personal passion for a over a year now.
In order to do this I've created www.newsmata.com, a presentable, broad spectrum, quick-to-read format, that visitors can look at and catch up on what's going on in the world.
What happened as a result, opened up a world of knowledge and insight into what exactly is wrong with everything we see, every day.
Shortly after my first algorithm was run to group news, blog and magazine articles for his NewsMata.com database, I suddenly found myself looking at shielded propaganda, unfiltered facts, misinformation, biased news, swayed stories, and all from the most unlikely of sources.
This was all information that had not made it into mainstream US news.
Credibility, reputation, fact, truth and more importantly Information — these are the terms of our generation, and our time. In this politically charged era when Internet and Information are readily available to thousands upon thousands of knowledge hungry on-lookers; who do you trust when it comes to the news?
When you find who, can you believe what you read? How much fact versus fiction are you really looking at? Do you even know if you're getting the right picture? Are you getting the whole picture?
I'd love to hear feedback, criticism, suggestions, or questions from anyone out there willing to share.
Peace,
MJ

Its not every day you get to use a website to unshield yourself from the countless lies of media driven bs... NewsMata.com is quick, simple and the best resource I've used for getting the actual news, for what it should be, by using the web of lies against itself to get the story WE all deserve.
Hats off, Micah. This site rocks.

Vicky,
The concept behind newsmata isn't to have someone report the news; there are no editors at newsmata, or writers... NewsMata.com takes news from a global snapshot and clusters 'like' stories together, allowing you to read 3... 5... 10 stories about the same subject from different news sources
You get to decide for yourself who to trust, but the funny thing is - who is trustworthy within a cluster of stories is more apparent than you might think.

Nice Site Micah, looks like you're using Joomla, nice!
Nice customization and work done on your end!
Love the concept.
You know I consider using open source as "Green Building" :-) in the web world.
What do you think of LIME?
"Green Building" for the web... I like that! :)
I actually used MooTools (mootools.net) for the tooltips, but outside of that, the rest of the site (design and functionality) was created from scratch.
Thanks for the great feedback on the concept. I'm excited to see what happens as it grows.
I've been watching LIME for a while now, and really like the concept. The look is clean, and it's easy to use.
Definitely not Fox or MSNBC for that matter I usually trust most of CBS’S news coverage or PBS news radio. Reason for that Fox and MSNBC are usually just criticizing each other and not in a very friendly way “he says, she says”. As for Pbs they keep it a little more traditional and straight to the point.
