By the time you read this, Mr. Big will probably be a — gasp! — daddy.
Chris Noth, of Sex and the City fame, is expecting a baby with his longtime girlfriend Tara Wilson. Because the Golden Globes were a wash, the place to be this year was the gift suites in Los Angeles, which is where Chris and Tara stopped by to check out the Boom Boom Room — a mommy-friendly gift suite — to pick up a Bebe au Lait nursing cover (a.k.a. a Hooter Hider), which is a line of chic nursing covers including some that come in 100% certified organic linen. The View's Elisabeth Hasselbeck — who gave birth to a son last year — is also a fan of the eco-friendly line, blogging about it recently. Not as exciting as the threesome conversations taking place on The View, but still.
Keeping with the baby theme, model Lynda Fassa, who started the organic clothing company Green Babies in 1994 and recently wrote the book Green Babies, Sage Moms — talked to People mag about bringing up kids in an environmentally-friendly way. Her tips include banning bug spray (studies show insecticides raise kids' chances of childhood cancers), using natural cleaners (her faves are Method and Seventh Generation) and serving organic baby food when possible (it's pricy, so choose two or three food items your child eats the most and buy organic versions of those).
After receiving a Golden Globe award recently for his role in Sweeney Todd, Johnny Depp was in the mood to give. The easy-on-the-eyes actor donated $2 million to London's Great Ormond Street Hospital as a thank you for saving his daughter Lily-Rose's life. While Johnny was filming Sweeney Todd last March, the little girl was hospitalized for kidney failure. He also invited several doctors and nurses to the London premiere of his movie. Applause, applause to Mr. Depp.
Last week, celebrities turned out to support The Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization bringing creative projects to kids battling serious medical conditions at Shriners Hospital for Children in Studio City, Calif. The Art of Elysium Ford Escape Hybrid Decorating Workshop attracted celebs like Jason Bateman, Anthony Kiedis and Amy Smart – and got the stars and kids to work together on the auto art project. Helping kids in a green way? Sounds like a win-win.
Lastly, I never would have pegged Heidi Fleiss as a person who cared about the environment. (Sex? Yes. Environment? Not so much.) However, it was reported that the brothel for women that she's been working on in Nevada is going to be wind-powered. Heidi, a self-professed "tree-hugger," says The Stud Farm – that's really what it's called! – will be an exclusive resort, where women can hit the spa… and pay for sex – all in an eco-friendly way. But are the bed sheets organic? We'll have to wait and see.
