Attention, ladies: Don't mess with Bill Nye the Science Guy's greens.
The bow-tied TV host sought a restraining order in L.A. court seeking to keep his former fiancee far, far away after she allegedly tried to poison his garden. In the papers, Bill said that late one night, back in September, Blair Tindal, who was dressed in black, "emerged from my backyard... carrying two plastic bottles filled with some sort of solvent. Apparently she was trying to poison my plants including some vegetable(s). She fled on foot and then a car sped away from the scene."
Funny – I always pegged Bill as the kinda fella who spent his free time cleaning beakers and studying the Periodic Table of Elements. Instead, he's driving women mad! Who knew? It also goes to show that you should never mess with a man's veggies.
Heather Mills has been taking some hits in the media lately, but she's kicking back. In a new campaign with Viva!, a vegetarian charity, the amputee poses for some provocative ads that say things like: "You haven't got a leg to stand on!" Viva! is trying to spread the word that livestock is a key cause of global warming. "The startling truth is that animals farmed for meat and dairy are now one of the greatest threats to the planet," the former Mrs. Paul McCartney said at a press conference, while asking people to change their diets. Tough sell Thanksgiving week, but good for her for doing her part.
That's right, it's Thanksgiving week... but the department stores are geared up for the Chrismukkah holidays. Barneys in New York stands out this year because they've gone green with their "Give Good Green" initiative. Part of their campaign includes an elaborate window display which includes a "Heroes of Green" section that pays homage to everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Gore to Wangari Maathai. Hmmm... wonder if the famous folks featured get a special store discount. Look at me, I'm always trying to save a buck, err, some green.
Speaking of Heroes, one of the stars of the NBC show – Hayden Panettiere – has found herself in hot water. Last month, the actress-activist was in Japan, where she confronted fishermen during a dolphin hunt. Hayden, who works with Save the Whales Again, and a small group paddled surfboards to try to interfere with the hunt. Then last week the situation escalated when an arrest warrant was issued in Japan for Hayden."Obviously this issue has generated defensive behavior on the part of both the Japanese authorities and fishermen," Hayden later told Access Hollywood. She added: "I have grown up hearing – and adhering to – this phrase: 'Condemnation without investigation dooms one to everlasting ignorance.'" How old is she? 18? Why does she seem so much older and smarter than the other starlets her age?
